We hope that those who attended enjoyed the beer festival and the medal winning beers can be found under past events.

Bonfire Night – Saturday 1st November

The next big event in our calendar is the Bonfire night on the Saturday 1st November. The fireworks should be better than ever and we’re hoping for better weather and a bit less wind this year!! This is an event for all the family and we’re hoping for a great turnout. We’ll have a big bonfire with a guy followed by the firework display. Burgers and sausages will also be available.

If anyone could spare a few hours either earlier on Saturday 1st Nov after 11am to help set up and build the bonfire or on Sunday morning to help clear up, we would love to hear from you. You can either email me at secretary@silchester.org or the Bonfire Organiser, Paul Baker on baker.p.1@pg.com  or 0118-9700123

We’re also always on the look out for wood for the bonfire

We need old boards, floorboards, hardboard, plywood, old doors, construction timber 2x1, 2x4, branches, etc. Please note we cannot use treated timber – eg old sheds, fences, etc.

Wood collection will take place this year on Saturday 25th October from 12 noon. If you are available to lend a hand then, please call Paul (contact details above)

This event is run entirely by volunteers from the village and involves a massive effort in terms of preparation, marshaling on the night, catering and clearing up afterwards so any help you can offer will be gratefully received.

Please buy your tickets in advance if possible as it helps greatly with reducing queuing on the night and also helps the organisers to prepare and cater for the event.

Looking forward to seeing lots of you there!
