Walk the Fun Run Course Easter Monday 24th March

Before the run (see below) we always need to check the course, and traditionally we do this on Easter Monday. This year that falls on 24th March, and so if you would like a little exercise in good company, followed by a well earned drink at The Calleva, come and join us. We meet outside the pub at  10am sharp.

‘Silchester at War’ - talk by Philip Pearce – Saturday 5th April

The talk by Philip Pearce about the residents of Silchester and their involvement with the 1st World War, which was belatedly cancelled last year will now take place on Saturday 5th April. Entry price on the door will be £4.00 for adults. Children 16 and under admitted free. So that’s Saturday 5th April at the Village Hall, doors open at 7.00pm for a 7.30pm start. Wine, soft drinks and nibbles will be available.

Silchester Association Annual General Meeting 2008 – 25th April

You are warmly invited to this year’s AGM which will take place as usual in the club room of the Village Hall from 7pm. We will conduct the shortest possible meeting to fulfil the necessary business of electing officers etc. before the customary talk by an invited speaker. Wine, soft drinks and nibbles will be available.

At the time of writing we have not chosen this year’s speaker but please keep an eye for the next issue of the parish magazine for details.

Silchester Fun Run 2008 – 17th May

The eagerly awaited Silchester Fun Run will take place on FA Cup Final day, which falls this year on 17th May. There will as usual be two races which will start from the playing field opposite the Village Hall at 11am. The first race will be 2 miles long for children, children running with parents, and fun runners.  Trophies will be awarded for the first three girls and first three boys aged 12 and under.

The second race will be 5 miles long for those 13 or over. Trophies will be awarded to the winners of 3 categories (Youths under 17, Adults, and Veterans aged 50 or over).

An application form is included in this issue of the Parish Magazine and subsequent issues will also include a form.

It’s not too early either to remind you that we are always delighted to receive the help of those who don’t do running but would like to be involved as marshals or to help in a variety of other ways.

Family Fun Day Sunday 24th August

Following last year’s highly successful event held on the common in front of the pavilion, on the weekend of the August Bank Holiday, we dare to try and repeat our luck with holiday weather! There will be a classic car and

motorcycle show as well as a competition to make and fly a kite, and other attractions. More details will be provided in subsequent issues of the Parish Magazine.
